2008 Open Competitions

Once again, my visit on Saturday 1st April provided an excellent opportunity to meet readers of Sewing World to discuss and offer advice on various matters and to listen to your comments and suggestions for future practical and informative articles.NEC April 2006 The schedule was rather hectic due to the half hour taster workshops so I`m sorry if I didn`t get chance to speak to all of you.

Congratulations to those of you who did take part in the `fly zip insertion` workshops that were once again, extremely popular. Working with an unfamiliar machine within strict time constraints could have been quite daunting, but you rose to the challenge and every one of you succeeded admirably!

I was impressed with the group of friends who returned after attending last year`s concealed zip insertion. One lady explained that she had driven for two and a quarter hours, just to attend the half hour session! It was also encouraging to see new learners involved and absorbing the whole experience.

What I also found most encouraging during the sessions was the fact that the workshops attracted young and old alike, covering a wide range of ages and abilities. Your response and obvious appreciation of the skills learned were ample reward for the effort made. If you didn`t get a chance to `have a go`, don`t despair - a new article focusing entirely on `Fly zip insertion` with lots of diagrams, hints and tips, is already being processed so look out for this soon.
